A sickness took over the New Directions, leaving them with only half of the members. Sectionals is finally upon the group, exciting the members. Sophia and Kai have planned another meeting, while Leah and Aidan shared a kiss. Meanwhile, Marley was cheated on, unknown to her.

Sophia is sitting on her bed, headphones in her eyes, mouthing the words to a song. The doorbell sounds throughout the almost empty house, but Sophia doesn't hear it. When it hears for a second time, Sophia stops lip-synching, and takes out her headphones. When it rings for a third time, she runs out of her room, and frantically scrambles to open it.

"Hello," Kai says, as the door swings open.

"Kai!" Sophia says, a little confused. "Why are you here?"

"You said we would get it on when it's the weekend, and, well, it's Sunday!" Kai says, enthusiastically. "I've come to pick you up!"

"Yeah, yeah," Sophia says, turning him down. "Maybe next weekend? It's Sectionals in two days, and I feel like I haven't practiced enough!"

"Whatever," Kai says, turning away. Sophia shuts the door on him.

Kyle walks down onto the football pitch, helmet under his arm, as he watches the other players on the team run around. He smiles as he sees Jason tackle another member. Kyle begins to make his way over to Jason, but another member of the team blocks him.

"Where do you think you're going?" the football player asks, "to your boyfriend?"

"What?" Kyle replies, his face going red.

"Oh come on! We all know it!" the football player says.

Kyle looks at Jason for a little bit, and their eyes meet. "I'm straight," Kyle says, looking directly at Jason with bitterness.

After football pracitce, Kyle enters the locker room, with only Jason inside, whom Kyle walks up to, "Why did you tell people about us?" he shouts.

"I didn't?" Jason says, closing his locker.

"Yes, you did!" Kyle shouts. "One of the team members just came up to me, and said that everyone knows!"

"Oh, those rumours," Jason says. "It's only because we're the only two football players in Glee, it doesn't even matter!"

"Are you sure?" Kyle asks, his voice cracking.

"Positive," Jason replies.

"I love you," Kyle mutters.

"I know you do," Jason says, leaning in for a kiss. However, Kyle rejects, and Jason rolls his eyes. "No ones around!"

"And?"

Jason looks disappointed as the music to All of Me begins to play in the background.

Jason:
What would I do without your smart mouth
Drawing me in, and you kicking me out
Got my head spinning, no kidding, I can't pin you down
What's going on in that beautiful mind
I'm on your magical mystery ride

And I'm so dizzy, don't know what hit me, but I'll be alright

As Jason walks out of the locker room, Kyle follows him, and sings along as well. The two end up on the stage in the auditorium, standing on different sides, staring at the empty stands.

Kyle:
My head's under water
But I'm breathing fine

You're crazy and I'm out of my mind

Jason and Kyle:
'Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I'll give my all to you
You're my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I'm winning
'Cause I give you all, all of me

And you give me all, all of you, oh

Kyle:
How many times do I have to tell you
Even when you're crying you're beautiful too
The world is beating you down, I'm around through every mood
You're my downfall, you're my muse
My worst distraction, my rhythm and blues

I can't stop singing, it's ringing, in my head for you

Jason:
My head's under water
But I'm breathing fine

You're crazy and I'm out of my mind

Jason and Kyle:
'Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I'll give my all to you
You're my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I'm winning
'Cause I give you all of me

And you give me all, all of you, oh

Give me all of you
Cards on the table, we're both showing hearts

Risking it all, though it's hard

'Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I'll give my all to you
You're my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I'm winning
'Cause I give you all of me
And you give me all of you
I give you all, all of me

And you give me all, all of you, oh

As the song comes to an end, the two look at each other for a short moment, before Kyle walks away.

Marley enters the Choir Room that day, to applause from the members. "Tomorrow!" Marley exclaims, to even more applause. Outside the Choir Room, Olivia walks past, and watches through the open door. When the New Directions finish their applause, Marley speak again. "Sectionals... We've come so far! We're a family!" she exclaims, leading to more clapping. From outside, Olivia smiles for a second, before walking away.

"Well, it is tomorrow, so we should know the setlist," Natalie says.

"I agree, you've narrowed it down to five songs we've practice a lot, but we need to know which three we are using," Rocky explains.

"Yes," Marley says. "For the setlist I've chosen to showcase only a few of our strongest singers. As promised during the week of Invitationals, we will have a girls number, Acapella, with solos from Leah, Monica, Natalie and Sophia! After that song is completed, you will then sing Party in the USA, which will feature solos from Kai, Monica, Natalie and Rocky. Your setlist will then close with Troublemaker, a solo by Aidan."

"Hold up!" Amber says.

"What?" Marley says.

"Are you saying I'm not a strong singer?" Amber says.

"No, not at all. I just felt like those soloists fit with the songs," Marley explains.

"Why does a guy get to sing a solo?" asks Leah.

"I chose the song, and believe that Aidan sounds brilliant singing it," says Marley.

"Oh, I agree," Leah replies. "It's just that I checked the previous performances of New Directions at a competition, and not once has a male sung solo at a competition."

"Things can change, Leah," Aidan says. "I'm thankful for the opportunity to perform a solo infront of all those people".

"I'm with Leah," Monica says. "At Christmas, you were talking about traditions, so isn't it a tradition to have a girl sing the solo?"

"Girls are the rulers in here!" Leah says.

The band begins to play the music to Run the World (Girls), as Leah sits up straighter in her seat, Amber and Monica in the two seats behind her.

Leah (Amber and Monica):
Girls, we run this mother (yeah)
Girls, we run this mother (yeah)

The three girls stand up, and walk to the front of the Choir Room, where the dance, as the New Directions and Marley watch from the seats.

After Glee pracitce, Rocky walks up to Leah, "That was a bit uncalled for!"

"What? Saying that he doesn't deserve the solo?" Leah asks.

"Yes! You two kissed, and now you're saying he isn't good enough!" Rocky exclaims.

"I wasn't saying he was good enough, I was merely saying all guys aren't," Leah says. When she realises that Rocky has gone quiet, she sighs. "Except you, of course!"

"Good, I was going to say..." Rocky trails off, spotting Aidan in the distance, looking over at the two of them.

"It was a one off kiss, if he wants to make it more, he can tell me so!" Leah snaps.

The next morning, the New Directions pile around the bus, eager to get on. Marley quickly does a head count, to make sure all her twelve members are present. "Get on then," she calls out to the cheers of the club.

Kyle sits by himself towards the back of the bus, headphones in ears, singing along to his music. Jason hestiantly sits down next to him, and Kyle takes out the headphones.

"What do you want?" Kyle asks.

"A kiss," Jason replies.

"Not in public!" snaps Kyle.

"Why?" Jason asks, a tear appearing in his eye. "Are you embarrased by me?"

"No. I'm embarrased by myself," Kyle says, putting his headphones back on. The two spend the rest of the journey in silence.

Near the front of the bus, Marley and Leah sit together, talking about their troubles.

"I'm sorry for saying that in Glee, I didn't mean it. You're an awesome director," Leah says.

"And you're a beautiful singer, Leah!" compliments Marley. "What's wrong, by the way?"

"What do you mean?"

"I've noticed that since last week, you've been quieter, except for your little outburst yesterday, of course," Marley explains.

"Oh..." Leah ponders. "Just something happened, and now I'm not sure what to make of it".

"Someone kissed you?" Marley asks. "A crush?"

"How did you know?" Leah says, stunned.

"Same thing happened to me in my sophomore year," Marley says. "With Jake, in fact".

"Well, you guys are still together years on, so that could be a good thing?" Leah says, raising her hopes.

"No. We're not together anymore," says a bitter Marley.

"Why?" asks Leah.

Marley takes a deep breath before responding. "He dumped me. Last week, in fact".

"Did he say his reasoning?" asks a curious Leah.

"Nope. He just left Lima days before he was supposed to, and broke it off with me," Marley responds.

The two girls take a deep sigh. "Boys are just confusing", says Leah, matter-of factly.

When the group arrives at the venue, the thirteen of them hop of the bus, cheerfully. As they reach their assigned dressing room, Marley smiles. "Sectionals, here we come!"

After each member had got changed into the competition outfits; the girls in a black dress that is cut just above the knees, and the boys in suits, Marley calls them to the centre of the room.

"Okay!" Marley says, nervous. "I have a little speech prepared for you guys!"

"Oh no," Natalie says. "Speeches normally make me cry!"

Marley laughs, and quickly gets on with it. "You guys are first, so this has to be quick! Without this club, without any of you guys, I would probably be living at home, having no job. But now, I get to do what I love, it's my passion. Being paid for this is an added bonus. You guys have turned my life around, and I can't appreciate it, or you more! Now go out there and show the judges how the New Directions roll!"

The twelve members stand on the stage, facing the back-drop, as the music to Acapella begins to play. Leah turns around, and starts the song off.

Leah:
Used to be your baby, used to be your lady
Thought you were the perfect lover

Natalie:
All the harmony went fallin' out of key, so
Now you gotta find another

Sophia:
Now you're talkin' crazy, sayin' that you made me
Like I was your Cinderella

Monica:
You and me are through though, watch me hit it solo
I'mma do it acapella, yeah

Sophia with New Directions Girls:
Once upon a time, I met the perfect guy
He had that Colgate smile, he had that suit & tie
Mama always said "get a rich boyfriend,
You don't gotta love 'em, girl, you can pretend"
You bet I totes believed her, yeah, every word she said
Thought he was gluten-free, but all that I got was bread
Mama always said "nice guys finish last,
Beat him at his own game, honey, take the cash"

Leah:
Ooh, and what a lucky girl you will be
But no, he didn't do jack for me
I want a bean with the beanstalk
And if the magic ain't right, time to walk

Natalie and Monica:
Used to be your baby, used to be your lady
Thought you were the perfect lover
All the harmony went fallin' out of key, so
Now you gotta find another
Now you're talkin' crazy sayin' that you made me
Like I was your Cinderella
You and me are through though, watch me hit it solo
I'mma do it acapella, yeah

Leah:
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
I'mma do it acapella, yeah

Sophia with New Directions Girls:
Out on our first date, he took me gourmet
We hit that Olive Garden, my Little Italy
Daddy always said "let the gentleman pay,
Never ever go Dutch at the buffet"
I saw his bad intention, he didn't wanna talk
He put the saucy on it (Oops!) time to check my watch
Daddy always said "money can't buy class,
You don't wanna get stuck takin' out trash"

Leah:
Ooh, and yeah I guess it wasn't meant to be
Because he didn't do jack for me
I want a bean with the beanstalk
And if the magic ain't right, time to walk

Natalie and Monica:
Used to be your baby, used to be your lady
Thought you were the perfect lover
All the harmony went fallin' out of key, so
Now you gotta find another
Now you're talkin' crazy sayin' that you made me
Like I was your Cinderella
You and me are through though, watch me hit it solo
I'mma do it acapella

Leah:
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
I'mma do it acapella
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Watch me do it in falsetto
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Never mind, bring the beat back

Natalie and Monica with New Directions:
Used to be your baby, used to be your lady
Thought you were the perfect lover
All the harmony went fallin' out of key, so
Now you gotta find another
Now you're talkin' crazy sayin' that you made me
Like I was your Cinderella
You and me are through though, watch me hit it solo

Leah with Sophia, Natalie and Monica:
I'mma do it acapella
Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

I'mma do it acapella, yeah

As the song comes to an end, the audience gives a short applause, as the music to Party in the USA begins.

Natalie:
I hopped off the plane at L.A.X.
With a dream and my cardigan
Welcome to the land of fame excess,
Am I gonna fit in?

Kai:
Jumped in the cab,
Here I am for the first time
Look to my right and I see the Hollywood sign
This is all so crazy
Everybody seems so famous

Rocky:
My tummy's turnin' and I'm feelin' kinda home sick
Too much pressure and I'm nervous,
That's when the taxi man turned on the radio
And a Jay-Z song was on
And a Jay-Z song was on
And a Jay-Z song was on

Rocky with New Directions:
So I put my hands up
They're playing my song,
And the butterflies fly away
I'm noddin' my head like yeah
Movin' my hips like yeah
I got my hands up,
They're playin' my song
I know I'm gonna be OK
Yeah, it's a party in the USA
Yeah, it's a party in the USA

Monica:
Get to the club in my taxi cab
Everybody's looking at me now
Like "Who's that chick that's rockin' kicks?
She gotta be from out of town"

So hard with my girls not around me
It's definitely not a Nashville party
'cause all I see are stilettos
I guess I never got the memo

Kai:
My tummy's turnin' and I'm feelin' kinda home sick
Too much pressure and I'm nervous
That's when the D.J. dropped my favorite tune
And a Britney song was on
And a Britney song was on
And a Britney song was on

Kai with New Directions:
So I put my hands up
They're playing my song,
And the butterflies fly away
I'm noddin' my head like yeah
Movin' my hips like yeah
I got my hands up,
They're playin' my song
I know I'm gonna be OK
Yeah, it's a party in the USA
Yeah, it's a party in the USA

Natalie (Monica):
Feel like hoppin' on a flight (on a flight)
Back to my hometown tonight (town tonight)
Something stops me every time (every time)
The DJ plays my song and I feel alright

Natalie with New Directions:
So I put my hands up
They're playing my song,
And the butterflies fly away
I'm noddin' my head like yeah
Movin' my hips like yeah
I got my hands up,
They're playin' my song
I know I'm gonna be OK
Yeah, it's a party in the USA
Yeah, it's a party in the USA

Monica with New Directions:
So I put my hands up
They're playing my song,
And the butterflies fly away
I'm noddin' my head like yeah
Movin' my hips like yeah
I got my hands up,
They're playin' my song
I know I'm gonna be OK
Yeah, it's a party in the USA

Yeah, it's a party in the USA

As the second song finishes, the audience claps even louder than the first time. Aidan makes his way to the centre stage, and has a short second of eye contact with Leah, who smiles at him. Troublemaker begins, and Aidan takes a deep breath before singing.

Aidan:
You're a troublemaker
You're a troublemaker...
You ain't nothing but a troublemaker, girl

You had me hooked again from the minute you sat down
The way you bite your lip got my head spinnin' around
After a drink or two I was putty in your hands
I don't know if I have the strength to stand, oh oh oh...

Trouble troublemaker, yeah
That's your middle name, oh oh oh...
I know you're no good but you're stuck in my brain
And I wanna know...

Aidan with New Directions:
Why does it feel so good but hurt so bad, oh oh oh?
My mind keeps saying,
"Run as fast as you can."
I say, "I'm done," but then you pull me back, oh oh oh...
I swear you're giving me a heart attack
Troublemaker!

Aidan:
It's like you're always there in the corners of my mind
I see your silhouette every time I close my eyes
There must be poison in those finger tips of yours
'Cause I keep comin' back again for more, oh oh oh...

Troublemaker

Why does it feel so good but hurt so bad, oh oh (hurt so bad)?
My mind keeps saying,
"Run as fast as you can."
Troublemaker
I say, "I'm done," but then you pull me back, oh oh oh...
I swear you're giving me a heart attack
Troublemaker

New Directions Boys:
Maybe I'm insane
'Cause I keep doing the same damn thing
Thinking one day we gon' change
But you know just how to work that back
And make me forget my name
What the hell you do I won't remember
I'll be gone until November
And you'll show up again next summer, yeah!
Typical middle name is Prada
Fit you like a glove, girl
I'm sick of the drama
You're a troublemaker
But damn girl it's like I love the trouble
And I can't even explain why
(Aidan: Yeah!)

Aidan with New Directions:
Why does it feel so good but hurt so bad, oh oh oh?
My mind keeps saying,
"Run as fast as you can."
Troublemaker
I say, "I'm done," but then you pull me back, oh oh oh...
I swear you're giving me a heart attack
Troublemaker

Why does it feel so good but hurt so bad, oh oh oh?
(Aidan: And I can't even explain why)
My mind keeps saying,
"Run as fast as you can."
Troublemaker
I say, "I'm done," but then you pull me back, oh oh oh...
I swear you're giving me a heart attack

Troublemaker

As the final song finishes, the audience booms with applause, and the New Directions bow, each with a huge smile on their faces. After about a minute, they run off stage, happy.

The New Directions run into the dressing room, where Marley is waiting, beaming.

"That was brilliant!" she squeals. "Okay, so, we are going to stay in here while the second group performs, but we will be part of the audience for the third group, the Warblers".

As the New Directions talk amongst themselves, Leah walks over to Aidan. "Listen, Aidan," she says. "I'm really sorry for what I said. Your performance was breathtaking. You truly are an amazing performer".

Aidan smiles, and hugs Leah. "You weren't to bad yourself," he says quietly, so that only Leah, who's head is on his chest can hear it. She smiles to herself as the hug continues.

The New Directions and Marley take their seats as the Dalton Academy Warblers make their way to the stage. Music to Wonderwall begins.

Dalton Academy Warblers:
Today is gonna be the day
That they're gonna throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you gotta do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do about you now

Backbeat the word was on the street
That the fire in your heart is out
I'm sure you've heard it all before
But you never really had a doubt
I don't believe that anybody feels
The way I do about you now

And all the roads we have to walk are winding
And all the lights that lead us there are blinding
There are many things that I would
Like to say to you
But I don't know how

Because maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall

Today was gonna be the day
But they'll never throw it back to you
By now you should've somehow
Realized what you're not to do
I don't believe that anybody
Feels the way I do
About you now

And all the roads that lead you there were winding
And all the lights that light the way are blinding
There are many things that I would like to say to you
But I don't know how

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall

I said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
You're my wonderwall

Said maybe
You're gonna be the one that saves me
You're gonna be the one that saves me

You're gonna be the one that saves me

Later on, the three competiting groups stand on the stage, as the judges make their way on. One of them takes a microphone and walks to the centre of the stage. "Hello, and welcome to the 2017 Sectionals, that was meant to take place in 2016, but couldn't because, well, who cares!"

The audience cheers for a little while, and then the announcer speaks again. "In first place..." he says, causing tension, and a drumroll from the audience, "from Lima, Ohio, the NEW DIRECTIONS!"

The group cheers and hug each other, as Marley goes to collect the trophy, absolutely beaming.

As the trophy gets lifted into the glass case, the New Directions cheer. The scene shifts to the auditorium, where the New Directions and Marley celebrate their win. Music to Good Life begins to be played by the band, and Marley begins to sing it.

Marley:
Woke up in London yesterday
Found myself in the city near Piccadilly
Don't really know how I got here
I got some pictures on my phone

New names and numbers that I don't know
Address to places like Abbey Road
Day turns to night, night turns to whatever we want
We're young enough to say

Marley with New Directions:
Oh this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life

Say oh, got this feeling that you can't fight
Like this city is on fire tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life

Marley:
To my friends in New York, I say hello
My friends in L.A. they don't know
Where I've been for the past few years or so
Paris to China to Colorado

Sometimes there's airplanes I can't jump out
Sometimes there's bullshit that don't work now
We all got our stories but please tell me-e-e-e
What there is to complain about

When you're happy like a fool
Let it take you over
When everything is out
You gotta take it in

Marley with New Directions:
Oh this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life

Say oh, got this feeling that you can't fight
Like this city is on fire tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life

Marley (New Directions):
(Hopelessly)
I feel like there might be something that I'll miss
(Hopelessly)
I feel like the window closes oh so quick
(Hopelessly)
I'm taking a mental picture of you now
('Cause hopelessly)
The hope is we have so much to feel good about

Marley with New Directions:
Oh this has gotta be the good life
This has gotta be the good life
This could really be a good life, good life

Say oh, got this feeling that you can't fight
Like this city is on fire tonight
This could really be a good life
A good, good life

Oh yeah
Good, good life
Good life
Ooh

Marley:
Listen
My friends in New York, I say hello
My friends in L.A. they don't know
Where I've been for the past few years or so
Paris to China to Colorado

Marley with New Directions:
Sometimes there's airplanes I can't jump out
Sometimes there's bullshit that don't work now
We all got our stories but please tell me-e-e-e

What there is to complain about

The New Directions create a group circle and cheer loudly.

THE END
