EpisodeEdit

As Marley walks up to the steps of her old school, McKinley High, she takes a deep breath. She looks around, and has a confused expression on her face. Marley begins to narrate, It's the second day of the school year... I'm not sure why Principal Figgins called me back. I graduated last year. Maybe my scores were wrong? Yeah, I passed school, but only just. Or maybe he found out that I'm not doing anything with my life... I just don't know what to do... Or where to go.

Marley enters the school, and begins to walk down the hallways, looking around at the classes that are already taking place. As Marley walks, she spots a room, and stops. She stares into the room, longily, before entering. This was the Choir Room. My best year of my life, I spent in this room. I had Glee club practice here, and I loved it. Unfortunately, my director moved away with his wife, and his new baby. We couldn't find a new director, so it ended. School began to be boring, and I hated coming here. That's a main reason why I didn't do so well in my Senior year.

Marley raises her fist in the air, and knocks on the Principal's door. Figgins comes to the door, and with a broad smile, opens it.

"You called me?", asks Marley, confused.

"Yes, yes I did, Miss Rose. Please, have a seat", Figgins says, gesturing to the seats. Marley cautiously sits in one, as Figgins takes his seat across the desk. "So, why did you call me, Principal Figgins?", asks Marley.

"Well, Miss Rose, yesterday I got a call from one Sue Syvester...", Principal Figgins says.

"And? What does Coach Sue have to do with me?", asks Marley.

"Ahh. That's the thing. She's no longer the Coach here. She's been offered a better position in New York, so she has accepted so she can pay for a better education for her daughter", Figgins says.

"I still don't see what this has to do with me?"

"See, Sue and her Cheerios were the schools biggest winners! Most of the money we have is from them! Now, you were part of the New Directions, and were with them when they won a Nationals competition. I want you to take the director of the club! I've heard from your mother that you have no idea what to be, or what to do. This will help you!", Principal Figgins says, excitedly.

"Wait... Me? Glee Club director?!", Marley says, astonished.   "Of course! We have hired a new Cheerios coach, but I don't think she's any good... We need the New Directions to be back! You're the perfect person for the job, Miss Rose! Do you accept?", he asks, smiling.

"I accept...", says Marley, smiling back. I've found my job.

That night, Marley is in her room. She picks up her phone, and scrolls through her contacts. She stops at a certain one, and clicks the name. It begins to ring, and Marley puts the phone up to her ear. "Hello, this is Jake", Jake Puckerman says through the other end of the phone.

"Jake, it's me Marley!", Marley says, smiling as she says it.

"Marley! Your number is on private, sorry! This dance class is amazing! I love it here!" Jake says, laughing.

"Glad you're having fun", Marley says.

"Marley... I'm so sorry... Listen, we'll find something for you. We'll work together! I promise!" Jake says.

"Jake! It's alright. That's why I called you. Figgins has offered me a job as Glee director, and I accepted. I was wondering if you could come and help me with auditions?" Marley asks, hopefully.

"Marley! That's brilliant! I have a tight schedule, but I'll try my best, for you", Jake says.

"Okay. Love you", Marley says.

"Love you too!", Jake says.

Marley takes the phone away from her ear and hangs up. She sighs and throws it down on her bed.  ---- Marley walks through the hall, a sheet in her hand. She stops in front of the notice board, and picks up a pin. She puts the paper on the board, and pins it down. As she does so, the bell rings loudly, signalling the end of class. Students file out of their classrooms, and Marley smiles at the board, before walking away.

Leah Williamson walks out of her English class, and walks through the halls. Two Cheerios walk past Leah, and smirk at her. "Hello, silent girl!", one of them say, laughing. Leah takes a deep breath, and ignores the two Cheerios.

"Where are you going?!", the second one says, laughing. Leah walks away from the two Cheerios, but a third appears infront of her. Before Leah knows it, a slushie hits her right in the face. Leah lets out a stifled scream, but the laughter of the three Cheerios drowns her out. The three girls walk off, laughing at what they have just done.

Leah stands still, the slushie dripping off of her. Students laugh at her as they walk past. A few seconds later, Marley walks up to her. "It's okay! Come with me", Marley says, re-assuring her.

"Thank you", Leah whispers. The two walk off together, and Marley smiles.

Maybe this could be my first auditioner?, Marley narrates. I mean, come on. She's clearly an underdog, like most of the people when I was in Glee club. "So, what's your name?", Marley asks, as the two enter the bathroom.

"Leah. Leah Williamson", she replies. Marley grabs a towel, and begins to rub the slushie off of Leah.

"So, I'm here to start the New Directions back up, thats the Glee club. I was wondering if you would like to join?", Marley asks hopefully.

"Is that like a singing group or something?", Leah whispers, confused.

"Yes. It's extactly that. I was in it during my sophmore year here, but then it shut down. We didn't revive it. Trust me, if you join up, you'll love it! It's an amazing experience. So, can you sing?", Marley says, quickly.

"Yeah... Singing is one of the few things I love!" Leah says, smiling widely.

"Auditions are tomorrow. Don't worry, if you don't want to, you don't have to sign up on the sheet. I'll remember you", Marley says, smiling.

As Marley leaves that day, she goes to check on the sheet. She is disappointed by the lack of actual signatures. The sheet is filled with fake names, and inappropriate drawings. However, there are two signatures, Natalie Simmons and Ricardo Fernandez. I still have hopes. I mean, the first auditions are tomorrow. There's still time for my people to come and sign up, Marley narrates, hopefully.

The siren rings through the school the next day, and Aidan McKensie walks out of his class. Ricardo sees Aidan, and runs up to him. "Aidan!", he calls out. Aidan turns around and smiles.

"Hey, Rocky", Aidan replies.

"Listen, I've heard you sing. You're brilliant. So, I was hoping you'd sign up for Glee club with me...", Rocky says, quickly.

"Glee club? It sounds alright, I guess", Aidan says.

"Cool!", Rocky replies. "You sing, and you go to competitions. If you make it to Nationals, you can go anywhere in America! Los Angles, New York, you name it!".

"So, how do I sign up?", Aidan asks.

"I... I may have already signed you up this morning", says Rocky, staring at the ground, and moving uncomfortably.

"Why?"

"Well, I knew you would sign up...", Rocky says, grinning.

Sophia Davis looks at the list for New Directions. She scans the list, and sees "Aidan McKensie" written there. She smiles, picks up a pen, and signs up. Sophia looks around, and then walks off, happily.

Marley enters the auditorium, and takes a seat. In her hand is the list of names. "Five auditions", Marley whispers.

"Five? Good job!", a voice says fromt the back of the auditiorium. Marley turns around, and to her surprise, standing there, is Jake.

"JAKE!" she screams, running out of her seat to greetive him a hug. As the two meet, Jake kisses Marley.

"So, let's get ready to listen to these auditions then", Jake says, as the two take their seats.

"LEAH WILLIAMSON!", Marley calls. Leah walks out with a microphone in hand, and stands on the stage, definately.

"Hello. My name is Leah. I'll be singing So What, by Pink, my favourite music artist", says Leah, quickly.

"Whenever you're ready", Marley says smiling.

Leah takes a deep breath, and the music begins to play. She puts the microphone to her mouth, and begins to sing.

Leah:
I guess I just lost my husband,
I don't know where he went,
So I'm gonna drink my money,
I'm not gonna pay his rent,
I got a brand new attitude and
I'm gonna wear it tonight,
I wanna get in trouble,
I wanna start a fight,
na na na na na na na I wanna start a fight,
na na na na na na na I wanna start a fight.

So, so what
I'm still a rock star,
I got my rock moves,
And I don't need you,
And guess what,
I'm having more fun,
And now that we’re done,
I'm gonna show you tonight,
I'm alright,
I'm just fine,
And you're a tool,
So, so what,
I am a rock star,
I got my rock moves,
And I don't want you tonight.

(Uh check my flow, aw)
The waiter just took my table,
And gave it to Jessica Simps (shit!),
I guess I'll go sit with drum boy,
At least he'll know how to hit,
What if this song's on the radio,
then somebody's gonna die,
I'm gonna get in trouble,
My ex will start a fight,
na na na na na na na he's gonna start a fight,
na na na na na na na we're all gonna get in a fight!

So, so what
I'm still a rock star,
I got my rock moves,
And I don't need you,
And guess what,
I'm having more fun,
And now that we’re done,
I'm gonna show you tonight,
I'm alright,
I'm just fine,
And you're a tool,
So, so what,
I am a rock star,
I got my rock moves,
And I don't want you tonight.

You weren't there,
You never were,
You want it all,
But that's not fair,
I gave you life,
I gave my all,
You weren't there,
You let me fall.

So, so what
I'm still a rock star,
I got my rock moves,
And I don't need you,
And guess what,
I'm having more fun,
And now that we’re done,
I'm gonna show you tonight,
I'm alright,
I'm just fine,
And you're a tool,
So, so what,
I am a rock star,
I got my rock moves,
And I don't want you tonight.

No, no, no, no
I don't want you tonight,
You weren't there,
I'm gonna show you tonight,
I'm alright,
And you're a tool,
And your a tool,
So, so what,
I am a rock star,
I got my rock moves,

And I don't want you tonight

When Leah finishes, she raises her arms in triumph, and Marley and Jake applaud loudly.

"THAT WAS BRILLIANT!", Marley shouts from the seats. She stands up, continuing her applause.

"Well done!", Jake says.

Leah, standing on the stage, microphone still in hand, blushes and smiles. She walks off the stage, as Marley takes her seat.

"NATALIE SIMMONS!", Marley calls.

Natalie Simmons, a sophmore, walks onto the stage. "Hello!", Natalie says as she stands in the center. "I'll be singing Read All About It, by Emeli Sande.

Natalie:
You've got the words to change a nation
But you're biting your tongue
You've spent a life time stuck in silence
Afraid you'll say something wrong
If no one ever hears it how we gonna learn your song?

So come on, come on
Come on, come on
You've got a heart as loud as lions
So why let your voice be tamed?
Maybe we're a little different
There's no need to be ashamed
You've got the light to fight the shadows
So stop hiding it away
Come on, come on

I wanna sing, I wanna shout
I wanna scream 'til the words dry out
So put it in all of the papers,
I'm not afraid
They can read all about it
Read all about it, oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh

At night we're waking up the neighbours
While we sing away the blues
Making sure that we remember, yeah
Cause we all matter too
If the truth has been forbidden
Then we're breaking all the rules

So come on, come on
Come on, come on,
Let's get the TV and the radio
To play our tune again
It's 'bout time we got some airplay of our version of events
There's no need to be afraid
I will sing with you my friend
Come on, come on

I wanna sing, I wanna shout
I wanna scream 'til the words dry out
So put it in all of the papers,
I'm not afraid
They can read all about it
Read all about it, oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh

Yeah, we're all wonderful, wonderful people
So when did we all get so fearful?
Now we're finally finding our voices
So take a chance, come help me sing this
Yeah, we're all wonderful, wonderful people
So when did we all get so fearful?
And now we're finally finding our voices
Just take a chance, come help me sing this

I wanna sing, I wanna shout
I wanna scream 'til the words dry out
So put it in all of the papers,
I'm not afraid
They can read all about it
Read all about it, oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh

I wanna sing, I wanna shout
I wanna scream 'til the words dry out
So put it in all of the papers,
I'm not afraid
They can read all about it

Read all about it, oh

"Brilliant!", says Marley and Jake in unsion, clapping. Natalie walks off the stage, very pleased with herself.

"RICARDO FERNANDEZ", Marley shouts, with difficulty.

Ricardo walks out and stops in the middle of the stage. He looks up at Marley and Jake, and says "Hello. My name is Ricardo, but my nickname is Rocky. I'll be singing Take Back the Night by Justin Timberlake".

"Take it away!", Jake says, smiling.

Rocky:
Yeah, uh, feels good, don't it?
Listen, uh

Yeah, this was your city
You did it all and more, broke every law except for one, babe
Attraction, are you ready
I know you feel it
Pull you nearer 'til you feel it again, oh

I wanna do something right
But we can do something better
Ain't no time like tonight
And we ain't trying to save it 'til later
Stay out here living the life
Nobody cares who we are tomorrow
You got that lil' something I like
A little something I've been wanting to borrow

Tonight the night's, come on surrender
I won't lead your love astray, astray, yeah
Your love's a weapon
Give your body some direction
That's my aim
Then, we could

Take back the night
Come on, use me up until there's nothing left
Take back the night
Dizzy, spinning, sweating, you can't catch your breath
Take back the night
Ooh, don't know when the sun is rising next
Take back the night
So if the feeling's right, then raise your glass and let's

Take back the night, take back the night
They gon' try to shut us down, I'll be damned if we gon' let them
Take back the night, take back the night
You know you gon' mess around and find out there ain't no one better

Take back the night, oh
Yeah

Rare, there's not too many
No one but you and crowded rooms, we can do anything (yeah)
Attraction can drive you crazy
The way you move, you go crazy, that's incentive for me

I wanna do something right
But we can do something better
Ain't no time like tonight
And we ain't trying to save it 'til later
Stay out here living the life
Nobody cares who we are tomorrow
You got that lil' something I like
A little something I've been wanting to borrow

Tonight the night's, come on surrender
I won't lead your love astray, astray, yeah
Your love's a weapon
Give your body some direction
That's my aim
Then, we could

Take back the night
Come on, use me up until there's nothing left
Take back the night
Dizzy, spinning, sweating, you can't catch your breath
Take back the night
Ooh, don't know when the sun is rising next
Take back the night
So if the feeling's right, then raise your glass and let's

Take back the night, take back the night
They gon' try to shut us down, I'll be damned if we gon' let them
Take back the night, take back the night
You know you gon' mess around and find out there ain't no one better

And the horns say, alright
And the horns say, alright
Uh, ooh, and the horns say, alright
And the horns say
Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo
Take it over
Yeah, yeah

Y'all ready to have a good time out there, ladies and gentlemen?
Take back the night, take back the night...

Take back the night
Come on, use me up until there's nothing left
Take back the night
Dizzy, spinning, sweating, you can't catch your breath
Take back the night
Ooh, don't know when the sun is rising next
Take back the night
So if the feeling's right, then raise your glass and let's

Take back the night

When Rocky finishes his performance, he walks off of the stage before either Jake or Marley could give him any compliments, or could start clapping.

"Well then", Marley says, taken aback. "AIDAN MCKENSIE!".

Aidan walks onto the stage, and smiles. "Hello! I'm Aidan, and I'll be singing Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls", he says, taking a deep breath.

Aidan:
And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't wanna go home right now

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
When sooner or later it's over
I just don't wanna miss you tonight

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah, you bleed just to know you're alive

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am

"Well done!", Marley says, giving him a standing ovation.

"Thank you!", he says, walking off the stage.

"Last, but not least, SOPHIA DAVIS!", Marley calls.

Sophia walks on to the stage. "Hello, I'm Sophia, but I prefer to go by Mo", Sophia says, smiling up at the two.

"Take it away, Mo!", Marley says excitedly

Sophia:
Someone once told me that you have to choose
What you win or lose
You can't have everything
Don't you take chances
Might feel the pain
Don't you love in vain
Cause love won't set you free
I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by
So unhappy
But safe as could be

So what if it hurts me?
So what if I break down?
So what if this world just throws me off the edge
My feet run out of ground
I gotta find my place
I wanna hear my sound
Don't care about all the pain in front of me
Cause i'm just trying to be happy, yeah
Just wanna be happy, yeah

Holding on tightly
Just can't let it go
Just trying to play my role
Slowly disappear, ohh
But all these days, they feel like they're the same
Just different faces, different names
Get me out of here
I can't stand by your side, ohh no
And watch this life pass me by, pass me by

So what if it hurts me?
So what if I break down?
So what if this world just throws me off the edge
My feet run out of ground
I gotta find my place
I wanna hear my sound
Don't care about all the pain in front of me
Cause i'm just trying to be happy, ohh, happy, ohh

So any turns that I can't see,
like I'm a stranger on this road
But don't say victim
Don't say anything

So what if it hurts me?
So what if I break down?
So what if this world just throws me off the edge
My feet run out of ground
I gotta find my place
I wanna hear my sound
Don't care about all the pain in front of me

I just wanna be happy
Ohh, yeah, happy, ohh, happy
I just wanna be, ohh
I just wanna be happy

Ohh, happy

"WELL DONE!", shouts Marley, standing up and clapping, happily.

Later that day, Marley and Jake are standing in the Choir Room, discussing the auditions. "They were ALL brilliant!", Marley says excitedly.

"They were. Marley, it looks like you've got yourself five members!", Jake says, smiling.

"I'll go tell them!", Marley says. She walks over to the door, and opens it. Outside, are Leah, Aidan, Rocky, Natalie and Sophia. "Come inside, you five. We're going to tell you some good news."

"We're all in?", Natalie says, raising her hands.

"Spoiling it!", Marley says, winking.

The five smile at each other, and Leah goes over and hugs Marley. "So, if you're our director, are you a good singer?", Rocky asks, wondering.

"I guess that's an opinion", Marley says.

"Marley's brilliant!", Jake says, walking over to the group. "Sophmore year, we went to Nationals with this club. Marley here performed a duet with a girl, and the judges said that the duet really contributed to our group coming first!".

"Jake... It might not have been my voice they loved. It might have been hers. I mean, look at what she's done. She's been in MANY Broadway productions", Marley says.

"Is that Tina Cohen-Chang?", asks Sophia.

"You know her?", Jake asks.

"I saw one of her productions", replies Sophia.

"Well, yes it was...", Marley says.

"Marley, why don't you just perform the song, but do it as a solo rendition?", asks Jake, hopefully.

"I don't-", Marley attempts to say, before she is cut off by the club's pleasing.

"Fine!".

Music begins to play, and Marley begins to sing Titanium.

Marley:
You shout it out,
But I can't hear a word you say
I'm talking loud not saying much
I'm criticized but all your bullets ricochet
You shoot me down, but I get up

I'm bulletproof, nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium

Cut me down
But it's you who'll have further to fall
Ghost town and haunted love
Raise your voice, sticks and stones may break my bones
I'm talking loud not saying much

I'm bulletproof, nothing to lose
Fire away, fire away
Ricochet, you take your aim
Fire away, fire away
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium
I am titanium
I am titanium

Stone-hard, machine gun
Firing at the ones who run
Stone-hard as bulletproof glass

You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium
You shoot me down but I won't fall
I am titanium

I am titanium

As the song comes to a close, Marley smiles, as the five New Directions members clap. "You said you weren't good!", Aidan says.

"You're brilliant!", Leah says, quietly.

"See, you just need confidence!", Jake says. He and Marley are in the Lima Bean, having a coffee that afternoon.

"I guess... So, how long are you in Lima for?", Marley asks.

"I've been able to get a week off. A week to come and see you", Jake says, leaning into kiss Marley.

"So, will you help me with a number tomorrow during practice?", Marley asks, batting her eyes.

"What song?", Jake asks.

"You know, just the same song that the original New Directions sung for their first song. I thought it would be a great way to start a new era", Marley says.

"Don't Stop Believin'?", Jake asks.

"Just the one", Marley says, winking.

Jake and Marley stand on the stage in the auditorium, as the band begins to play the song.

Jake:
Just a small town girl
Livin' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere

Marley:
Just a city boy
Born and raised in South Detroit

He took the midnight train goin' anywhere

Aidan and Leah make their way onto the stage, and begin to sing.

Aidan:
A singer in a smokey room

Leah:
The smell of wine and cheap perfume

Aidan and Leah:
For a smile they can share the night

It goes on and on and on and on

The rest of the New Directions make their way onto the stage, and begin to sing as well.

Marley with New Directions:
Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searchin' in the night

Streetlight, people
Livin' just to find emotion
Hidin' somewhere in the night

Rocky:
Workin' hard to get my fill

Natalie:
Everybody wants a thrill

Rocky and Natalie:
Payin' anythin' to roll the dice
Just one more time

Aidan and Leah:
Some will win, some will lose
Some are born to sing the blues

Sophia with Aidan and Rocky:
And now the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on

Sophia and Marley with New Directions:
Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searchin' in the night

Streetlight, people
Livin' just to find emotion
Hidin' somewhere in the night

Sonia:
Don't stop!

Marley and Jake with New Directions:
Don't stop believin'
Hold on to that feelin'
Streetlight, people

Don't stop believin'
Hold on to that feelin'
Streetlight, people

Sonia with New Directions:

Don't stop!

Monica Parks leaves her Science classroom as the bell rings. She grabs her bag, and walks quickly away. "HEY! Poor girl!", Olivia Ford-Harris, a Cheerio shouts.

"What, do you want, Olivia?", asks Monica, stopping in the hallway.

"What are you WEARING?!", Olivia mocks, picking up parts of Monica's clothing, and dropping it, with a distaste in her eyes. "It's disgusting!"

"Leave me alone!", Monica says, clearly getting annoyed.

"You should legally change your name to Monica Poor!", Olivia says, laughing.

"I said LEAVE ME ALONE!", Monica shouts, hitting Olivia's hand away, before running off. Tears in her eyes, she runs around the corner. She stops after couple of turns, and brushes the tears away. As she shakes her head, she spots something. She walks over to the notice board, and sees the sign up sheet for Glee club. With a quick look around, Monica picks up a pen, and signs her name on the sheet. She smiles, and walks off.
